Here are some small illustrations I did as gifts for Geoff Rogers and Dave Bohati of MARKET.

One of the most delightful felines I’ve encountered, the lovely Mog. While I was in Dublin I had the pleasure of taking care of this tiny kitty for a couple of days, and she was very friendly and playful. She seems to like stretching her leg when she’s happy, so I drew her delightful pose. Terrible photograph, but I left the original with her awesome owners.

My lastest illustration. Even though it was started before I went to England and Ireland, a lot of the outcome was inspired by what I saw on my trip. I loved the countryside of Ireland, the rugged boggy landscape interspersed with green fields and trees climbing with ivy. And in England I spent everyday in museums, staring in awe at masterpiece after masterpiece learning a lot. I’ll have more to show soon!

Fall doesn’t last very long in Calgary, so I figured I’d paint it while I could. Its just a little doodle, but I loved the colours in it. This might be it for a while, I’m going to England and Ireland for two weeks and I won’t have any means of uploading my sketches. Once I get back I’ll upload some of them as well as some projects I’m working on.

So here’s the finished version of this. It’s taken me a few weeks to complete due to other projects I’m working on simultaneously and the detailed nature of the painting. It was pretty interesting to work on, as I don’t often do perspective-heavy works. Anyways, read into it what you will, I’m just glad its finished!

Here’s the latest piece I’ve been working on. It’s not too large, but boy is it ever detailed! It looks much too busy now, but once I add value and colour it’ll all come together. Or it could be a disaster, but lets hope for the best! The challenge for me in this piece isn’t how detailed it is, but how much perspective there is. Buildings in perspective have never been my favourite thing to draw, so why did I decide to draw an entire city? I don’t know, but it happened.
I have a few different projects going at once right now, so this may not be finished for a while.

So here’s the goliath painting I’ve been working on for a while now. I recently read A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (which I’m sure everyone knows is amazing), and I found it absolutely inspiring. I’m a fan of the show, but one chapter that was omitted/changed was Bran Stark’s dream. In the book it was described beautifully, and I wanted to try my hand at painting quite an abstract scene. Hardcore book fans will spot everything I left out, I just wanted to capture the essence of the dream.
Watercolour and gouache, touched up in Photoshop.
(Contact me if you want a print, its around 15″x27″)
